Course (JOC)

Upon completion of JOC, the pilot will have the necessary knowledge and skills to demonstrate that he/she is the master of the jet airplane, with the successful outcome of a procedure or manoeuvre never in doubt. Some airlines require candidates to have JOC completed before starting an assessment process.

The ground school consists of 16 hours of CBT (computer-based training) and 8 hours of theory in class:

  • Introduction of jet aircraft
  • Differences between jet engine and piston engine
  • Basic principles of flying a specific aeroplane
  • Power concept
  • Systems familiarization
  • Automation
  • General handling and IFR flying in the jet environment
  • Precision and Non-Precision approaches
  • Checklist and Briefing philosophies as well as techniques
  • Mutual work and task sharing in the jet environment
  • Standard Operating Procedures
  • Cockpit Procedures Training (Mock-up)

The FFS/FTD session is divided into:

  • Pilot flying (PF)
  • Pilot Non-flying (PNF)

If JOC training is combined with MCC or Type Rating, it only will take 4 hours to complete.
